Welcome to oz.org, the Australian Internet Relay Chat Network.

Help for those coming from oz.org

The previous version of oz.org had one bot - "Z". The new version of OzOrg.net has two. They are called "Zauth" and "Z".

Zauth:

This bot manages your username (not your nick!). You can register your username, change passwords etc. An online help page will be coming soon, but in the meantime you can find out more about Zauth by entering the command /msg Zauth HELP into your favourite IRC client.

The first command you will want to enter is most likely the REGISTER command. e.g. /msg Zauth REGISTER <account> <password> <email-address>

This user account is what you will use when you are interacting with the Z bot.

Please note when registering a user account with Zauth, you will NOT receive a verification email. Your account will be ready to go as soon as you send the register command to Zauth.

Z:

This bot sits in channels and operates very similar to the prevoius version of Z. It assists with the daily channel operations we've come to know and love.

An online help page will also be coming soon, but in the meantime you can find out more about Z by entering the command /msg Z HELP into your favourite IRC client.

Note: Old commands from the old Z are different to commands for the new Z!

General steps to follow:

  1. Set up a username with Zauth.
  2. Log in to Zauth.
  3. Join a new channel or become the operator on the unregistered channel.
  4. Register the channel to your username with Z.
